The comments section on this pic is wild. Leading theories:-God is punishing Texas for banning abortion (?!?!)- it’s Abbott’s fault - it’s weather manipulation -It’s china’s fault-It’s always been this dry, we are just now noticing, probably because Californians are complaining

@cake Long term normal and periodic. Main driver is fully Natural, El Nino just switched on. At the onset of that switch this troth forms over Southern USA with heat and dryness. Next expected step is harsh Winter for North East USA and then typical ElNino weather will keep on while Pacific conditions are of that type.

@MaleticResearch I believe you are right. I hope El Niño brings and end to the current drought conditions. It’s severe in my county.

@cake I call…bullcrap. This graphic is no different that the all-red temperature maps where red is the new green. Oklahoma has been getting plastered with rain. I’ve got boots on the ground receipts to confirm. @Andrew_Hoffman

@AwnryAble @cake The lakes and ponds are indeed quite full and so far we haven't had to turn on a sprinkler here in God's Country. It is plenty hot though!

@Andrew_Hoffman @AwnryAble TX panhandle has had a wet year too I think. We are in severe drought here in Central TX though and the evidence is everywhere. I think this is cyclical though.
