Yeah I was thinking about that too. I followed beechat for a while but they were so expensive I couldn't really justify it. Oddly enough after they were released they stopped updating, at least their telegram but It seems like they went back to the drawing board.

I haven't followed any web3 stuff so I wouldn't really know. My guess is they don't really have the infrastructure and ability to implement it how they want so it'll be a failed release, similar to vax passports or whatever. Additionally, I feel like it could probably only be done during a currency change over of some sort to not interrupt the billions of dollars flying around through an easy to use IDless internet.

@skylar @Shlomo Most people only have copper twisted pair transceivers. I think the next most common is USB to serial ports and the rare onboard serial port. And standard WiFi, but the range on that is even shorter unless you are using a parabolic dish (WokFi) or waveguide antenna (cantenna).

@teknomunk @Shlomo @skylar this reads like I was joking but I am not. This is a common setup for the feed on a dish, that the feedhorn is an integrated waveguide antenna plus something else I am forgetting the name of. You could also use like a helical antenna on the feedhorn, if you wanted iirc

@pwm @Shlomo @skylar I know what you are talking about, with a feed horn on a parabolic dish. I think the two should be designed to work together, and I would need to test to see if a cantenna is an appropriate feed horn for a parabolic dish.

@teknomunk @Shlomo @skylar "designed" to work together more or less just means knowing where the focal point on the parabola is to mount the feed (some dishes have offset focal points for a more vertical direction) and that the wavelength is small enough that it will bounce off the dish and not pass through it. I think there are other subtleties but the big one is definitely feedhorn position and mounting that securely.
