Tonight's movie night movie will be: The Chronicles of Riddick (2004). It's been a long time since I've seen this and I remember it being kinda cheesy but also kinda awesome in a wild world-building sort of way. The kids are super into world-building, so will be interesting to see how it goes down.

@sanguish @bigzaphod No, I’ve never heard of him. I’m still catching up on some cinema TBH, I grew up not being allowed to watch many movies and I’m too busy with life to watch as many films and shows as I’d like.I’ve never read the source material, so maybe that means that I’m safe! I see that he’s made #TwinPeaks, which I’ve assumed I’d like but I also haven’t yet seen. #MulhollandDrive sounds familiar, but I don’t know much about it.

@sanguish @realcaseyrollins @bigzaphod As someone who likes Dune (the book), I’ll say that I *also* like the David Lynch film, though it takes considerable liberties. It’s a good film with great costumes and sets. There are a few things about it that I actually prefer to the new film (though there’s plenty to like there too, and it’s a lot closer to the book).

@sanguish @bigzaphod @realcaseyrollins Also, anyone who likes Dune should totally visit North Africa. You can see where Frank Herbert got a lot of his inspiration. I still remember hearing the water sellers amidst the omnipresent scent of spices in the souk. The desert is amazing too (though I didn’t go into the dunes).
