The term "late stage #capitalism" is #Marxist. It's used to describe things in society that seem ridiculous, but embedded in it is the idea that history has stages of evolution, and that capitalism is coming to an end, to be replaced by #communism via revolution.The term is 100+ years old, and the world hasn't ended yet. Rather, it got better, factually. The many people using the term have no idea that its origin is bullshit, much like the entire Marxist religion.

@alexelcu I am not sure but I don’t recall Marx using that sort of terminology himself. To be honest I find somehowlw strange many of the conclusions and practices people have devised from such complex and theoretical works as Marx’s

@alexelcu It's used to describe the declining rate of profit which has been pushing corporations to monopolize markets by merging and to desperately seek new enclosures (eg developing the Amazon basin). You use a lot of pejorative language (bullshit/religion) that suggests your analysis is clouded by an unhealthy emotional baggage. Why not take a step back from this debate and reconsider your motivations?

@TruthSandwich There is one socialism that hasn't failed: social democracy. It's powered by capitalism, though. People believing in social democracy do understand that capitalism is what drives it, with the state being there to provide the needed infrastructure and welfare programs, which are also designed to grow the capitalist economy.Stalin called social democracy the "moderate wing of fascism" and that's a persistent sentiment amongst Marxists, viewing it as only a phase.

Prior centuries were marked by continuous war, totalitarianism, starvation, extreme poverty.Ozon layer has recovered due to policies. You know what's worse than rich people existing? Living in a country that doesn't have enough rich people to even dream of their taxation as being a solution.It's truly frightening to see the privileged fearing things that aren’t true.

Elephant in the room is that the planet has 8 billion people on it needing food, clothing, housing, entertainment.Humanity will most surely solve this via innovation & policies to transition to green energy. That, plus dealing with some of the effects of global warming, which are already inevitable.The fear porn doesn’t help, and the world will still be here, doing just fine.
