I wonder why it was made this way, there are nothing hard to pull all the profile data through api. If there was some technical difficulty in this, then likely bluesky will also face it.

They already promised doubtful things in terms of decentralization for the sake of data accessibility, e.g. these "big-graph" things. If i ever will selfhost bluesky node, i will try to opt-out of them.

@lonelyowl decentralisation and federation are just talking points for Bsky and Threads. I don’t think they’re ever going to make it decentralised in any useful way.One thing I can do on bsky is use a custom domain for my handle. For example I can make my username appear as “@malakai@usualsuspects.lol”Not that useful, just a cool little thing

You can make "@malakai.usualsuspects.lol" as a 3rd level subdomain. Or purchase another domain, e.g. "@malakai.com"
