Why is there NO Paint.net equivalent for Linux? No, Pinta does not count. Pinta is a piece of shit. No, Gimp does not count. Gimp is has too many damn buttons and is closer to Photoshop than Paint.net.Is there a FOSS paint.net alternative for Linux that I don't know about?

@eriner What's wrong with Pinta? Also, there is Krita.

@eriner Not sure what specific features you are looking for but have you considered LightZone?https://github.com/ktgw0316/LightZone/releasesIt seems to have a set of features that is similar to paint.net.Maybe darktable as wellhttps://www.darktable.org

@chanon @CSB I'll install and take a look, but on first glance this still seems more like photoshop than what I want.I'm ok with having layers, but I need easily accessible shape and cropping tools. I don't want to have to design arrows with rectangles+triangles every time I want to point to something in an image. I don't want adding a circle around something to require 10 clicks and a ritual sacrifice.

@k0nd0r This seems to be too simplistic for what I want, and seems to lack shape tools (beyond circle and rectangle).

@eriner if you don't like the best graphic app for linux - kritaI hazanother suggestion: please find some web-based graphic tool and use it in web browserotherwise you will not find what you want for linux as linux is not target platform for graphicsnowadays top 3 graphics platforms are:windows (including tablets)ipad (some apps are available for ipad but not for mac even)mac

@k0nd0r I understand it has ellipse, rectangle, and free-form polygon tools.I want many easily accessible polygon shapes so that I'm not creating bespoke star and arrow shapes every time I edit an image.Paint.Net has a panel with dozens of shapes. I want that.

@eriner here is a list, some items have been mentioned by others in this thread:https://itsfoss.com/open-source-paint-apps/And LibreOffice has Draw, which is more like Visio in the M$ Windows world.

@erinerI know it's primarily for vector graphics, but for stuff like that, I usually open it in inkscape, then export a raster. Exporting can be frustrating until you get the hang of it though, since it allows you to export rasters of individual elements. Although if you're marking up screenshots in a Linux distro, Flameshot is hella convenient.@CSB

@eriner The only thing I find usable for shapes is LibreOffice Draw.Note that Wine can run many Windows applications though not all of them. The one you like doesn't run well, but you may want to try some other.https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=6551

@eriner I’m sure there is, but it probably has some recursive pet name that says what it isn’t but also tells you nothing meaningful. Also, it only has a bad command line interface that forked eMacs. Or vi. Or nano.
