@lamp idk, they plan to retire the mail and related apps too, tho idk if the new outlook client is Electron based or whatever too. I guess they're abandoning uwp entirely in favor of garbage web. Given Satya Nutella only cares about online services, I guess PMs at Ms are just catering to the lazy web devs now or whatever, I haven't followed much since they canned Windows Phone. Currently I'm sticking with native apps as long as I possibly can.

@RoboMWM bruhhhh how the fuck am supposed to trim 10gb videototal disregard to the actual needs of the usersClipchamp isn't even a video "editor", it's a video *maker*. Photos just lets you trim a video. You don't need a whole video maker to do that.

@RoboMWM the user experience on #windows is terrible and only getting worse...on #mac, you can simply trim AND concat videos in the one and only quicktime player, and it has been like this for over a decade.windows is just bruh...

@lamp agreed. Only redeeming thing I guess is Office at this rate. Nearly everything else I use is not actively worked on anymore... Windows Phone, most UWP apps, cortana is getting the final blow, Skype became Electron a while ago, idk if GroupMe uwp app gets anymore updates, I guess I occasionally use to-do but it doesn't sync with windows phone anymore.

@lamp I use movie maker, the windows live one, I have the installer for it. Though I've been also trying out videoproc vlogger for free gpu rendering

@RoboMWM #windows is being hacked into a shitty #chromeos wanna-be, while Chrome OS probably does all this better... IIRC the editing features in the android Google Photos app were good, so it ought to be just as good in Chrome OS, but I've never used it.

@lamp Honestly that's probably Satya Nutella's dream... Ever since Windows 10, and definitely with Windows 11, Microsoft has shifted from being a leader to a follower. Even in the AI space it's mostly just investing in other companies...
