@Lumpbucket Can someone explain in a way that is understandable and practical to the general population what Web Integrity is? I just checked and all the articles sound like gibberish to me.

@kohane in a much simplified form a website could ask an attester if certain conditions about your computer are true and then deny or allow access. The risk is that they could deny access if your computer is "too old", if you do not use an Android phone, if your Browser has an extension installed, if you do not use Google Chrome and so on.If many websites have such conditions they can force you to have a device as they want, not as you want.#WebEnvironmentIntegrity

@Lumpbucket There are better choices out there that don't try taking fingerprints through phones.

@Lumpbucket There goes the openness and freedoms that the Internet was designed for.. out the window. Thanks, large corporate overlords.

I'm afraid I do not understand how something in a browser can prevent you from using another browser? Something in a website yes, then it's only going to keep you from those protected websites which are probably shit anyway.

@Lumpbucket, nothing to do with the Browser, it's the implemetion in webpage which give them the right to block a browser which dont have the Google token, this affect all browser, also Firefox. In extremis it can permit the access only to Chrome itself "for security reasons".Is this the problem because Vivaldi along with Firefox and Brave had protested against WEI, also several dev communities protested against this crap. But it seems that Google had stopped this for the moment.

@Catweazle @Lumpbucket Again, probably content you don't want anyway. Google is either 1) Spying on you, or 2) trying to sell you something.

@Lumpbucket I have been on vivaldi for a few years now and have no reason to switch.I dumped FF back when they supported the covid censorship. The less politics my browser has the better.

@Lumpbucket I imagine how much business this can open.Netflix was the one that forced Firefox to include DRM. This is the next episode.
