Maybe I should have posted this earlier but I'll be talking to Jeremy Soller of System76 shortly, let me know if you have anything pressing you'd like to ask a PopOS maintainer

@BrodieOnLinux@linuxrocks.online How did Jeremy feel about Linus from LTT bricking his PopOS installation on video because of an issue with the Steam package?

@BrodieOnLinux well this isn't about the software, but for their in-house laptops, have they considered supporting framework-style modules?Either cross-compatibility with framework modules or their own solution.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm curious on what package system they'll use for their immutable system. Particularly if they're making their own or if they plan to use someone else's package systemUbuntu is using snaps for this and it seems unlikely that PopOS will follow that route

@BrodieOnLinux I'd really enjoy a discussion about redoxOS and some teasers & possible roadmap for the new Cosmic desktop. I'll leave this here so you're informed. https://doc.redox-os.org/book/

@BrodieOnLinux How ready he thinks it is, if it is/will be viable as a general-purpose OS at some point, and my nerdy me would really enjoy a discussion about the OS internals and why it is next-gen & how it differs from Linux and POSIX operating systems. I mean, I've read the redox book twice, but that question could create a very interesting discussion, especially coming from him.

@BrodieOnLinux general COSMIC desktop questions:- How long were they thinking about it?- What made them pull the trigger?- How are they feeling about the current progress?- Was it as hard as they expected it to be?- What is a cool thing that they can/would like to share about it?

@BrodieOnLinux if they are adding really advanced keyboard shortcuts. Hyprland level. If they were to add keyboard shortcut functions like focusing monitors, I'll gladly consider daily driving it.

@BrodieOnLinux Few things1. Is it possible get AMD GPUs (laptops especially, but desktop as well)2. Estimate on when the new Cosmic will release3. Their opinion on Ubuntu pushing snaps4. Reaction to Linus borking Pop OSI understand that you can't ask everything but I'm interested in knowing these things in particular

@BrodieOnLinux Curious about the commitment to keep Pop Shell a separate extension of Gnome. I love Pop Shell, but generally stick with default Gnome otherwise, and am hopefully it remains independent for awhile.

@BrodieOnLinux for some fun questions, it would probably be interesting to hear things like- a bug he thought he would never fix, and then did- the most cursed firmware problem he's had to deal with- a noob mistake he made a long time ago but still thinks about

@BrodieOnLinux as they already themed xfce and gnome and seem to focus on modern easy to use user experiences, are there any thoughts about shipping a popos themed out-of-the-box tilining wm experience, with maybe hyprland or sway? curious how a popos approach to making tiling wms friendly for the average user would look like

@BrodieOnLinux I second about asking about an immutable PopOs. Like if one came to be, will they adopt Fedora style Ostree on a Debian/Ubuntu base? Will they have the ability to use OCI Images as base as well? How far will they be able to move away from the GTK ecosystem, they depended upon before? Like even getting rid of gsettings and dconf?

@BrodieOnLinux will they ditch the awful elementary software manager and replace it with something in the future? Unchanged GNOME Software would be much better, something homebrewed in Rust would be a godsend

@BrodieOnLinux1. Is there a timeline for #Wayland support? It's my preferred window server that makes my fancy monitor layout work properly, and it's a better experience on mesa graphics. Still using X11 is why I've only been deploying Pop to NVidia clients.2. Opinion on Immutable desktops like Fedora Silverblue or OpenSUSE MicroOS? Is an immutable flavor on the table for the future? Have you ever thought putting an Immutable PopOS on your consumer hardware for common users?
