How many spaceports does #Scotland need?Plans to build a #spaceport on the small Hebridean island of North #Uist, close to heavily protected bird sanctuaries, have been given the green light despite significant local opposition.Once built, it will be Scotland’s third spaceport. There are also privately owned launch sites being built at Saxa Vord in the far north of Shetland and on the coast of Sutherland, designed to send satellites into orbit.#OuterHebrides https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/25/north-uist-spaceport-near-protected-areas-approved-despite-local-opposition

@pandora If they want to return to the EU, they must "avoid" England. Apparently, the easiest way to do that is via space.

@bruno:mastogrin:I don't know if Britain has spaceports outside Scotland. If they're all here, then this could be yet another reason to block Scottish independence. After all, the MOD is heavily involved in the spacesport on North Uist.
