       The word "science" has been overloaded; it means both a method for obtaining new knowledge, and a secular authoritarian religion with the trappings of science. Know the difference.The scientific method demands that we constantly question existing knowledge. Religious tenets, in general, can't hold up to being questioned.This makes for a useful litmus test: If you are allowed to question something, it's science.  If you are not allowed to question, you are looking at a religious belief.

       @SirBemrose Correct. Religion and Science are two different things. Believing is not questioning. Accepted scientific theories always need to be questioned and can lead to such a theory getting "debunked" or replaced with new findings. A consensus in Science doesn't exist. That's just politics.

       @SirBemrose I agree with most of this. Christians are encouraged to question things though. In fact our Holy Bible teaches us to prove all things. There’s no true science that conflicts with the Bible.

       @SirBemrose Science is the method. If you didn't perform it, it isn't science. If you trust and have faith in something, it is religion. Similar concept but if you did it, you don't really need to question it other than forming another hypothesis to test. Consensus is politics. Religion, Science and Politics are all ways to derive truth but in their own realm only.

       @SirBemrose any true religion is open to being questioned. Otherwise it’s a cult. God doesn’t look down upon those who have questions or doubts or presenting a lack of faith because things don’t make sense at first. Have you heard of “Doubting Thomas?”
