We've been having a problem with the subtitles on our YouTube videos for a few weeks now. Is anyone else having this problem where they all show up covering the first few seconds? We aren't doing anything different we can think of, and everything looks fine with all the timestamp settings in the system. I'm at a loss for how to fix it.#YouTube #VideoEditing

@grammargirl Google is a dying company removing people keeping things working and flinging them like human spaghetti on the chatbot wall

@grammargirl I've seen it on lots of videos over the past few weeks.

@markdstein Thanks! It's helpful to know it's not just us.

It's so weird. It's fine now, and we didn't change anything. It seems to have just worked itself out somehow.

@grammargirl This looks like a different issue, but a few weeks ago, my Chrome browser started putting up semi-transparent live transcript subtitle windows above every video; they stay on top even when I switch apps to e.g. a fullscreen video game; they don’t contain any branding for Chrome (or whatever misbegotten anonymous plugin); there’s a close button that works but no obvious way to reopen it if I switch back, and an useless button whose tooltip says something about pinning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@grammargirl found it -- it's called "Live Caption" and lots of people are as confused by it as I was -- no idea why it's enabled by default, or how Chrome decides which videos are "in English" or otherwise worth captioning, or what that dysfunctional pin button is meant to do...Settings > Accessibility > Live Captionsorry for hijacking your thread with my personal tech support monologue 😂
