As a reader on another platform just reminded me, the false narrative being pushed by a lot of people is destructive because it feeds the narrative that the prosecution was political.Garland took the approach he did so the investigation and results would be above reproach.

@mjf_pro @Teri_Kanefield A "top-down AND bottom-up" strategy for the investigation was proposed by DoJ prosecutors and rejected by Garland and other top DoJ officials. That expanded investigation would have been faster, without breaking our rule of law. It *might* have been less effective in the end, or it might not - but it was certainly a legal option without falling into dictatorial territory.

Our justice system is the way we have developed to determine the truth in questions of fact, criminality, and so forth. That makes it a quite appropriate place to put our hope. I want it to work faster and more efficiently than it has, faster than Ms. Kanefield wants to believe is reasonable, fast enough to reach those conclusions BEFORE the next Presidential election. That's a far cry from making it "someone else's problem.

It is the simplest of choices, and no amount of judgement will move a needle for those who believe that it is time to shut down other people's rights.It is just a very different kind of fight 🤷‍♂️Also there is already enough information to make Trump unelectable if the situation would be "normal".
