After six months or more of being stuck getting the Xerox 1100 (nee D0, nee Dolphin) to netboot properly, I finally made a breakthrough last night. I made use of CHM's PARC archive, which contains the sources for the various stages of boot microcode (prom, Initial, and AltoMesa). I used ContrAlto to rebuild them, and produce a full listing. In combination with a Logic Analyzer, this allowed me to decipher what the 1100 is doing. Here's an exciting video of the MP showing a successful boot!

The D0 was Xerox PARC's first successor to the Alto, and was actually sold commerically in limited quantities as the "1100 Scientific Information Processor (SIP). My 1100 is one of these. I know of only two others in existence.

My Console is unfortunately having deflection issues, and it looks like it's caused by the yoke -- the vertical windings are open, so there's no vertical deflection. This should be fun to repair. It does appear to be working properly, otherwise. Here's a pic of the screen after the D0 booted the Alto NetExec (when the D0 is emulating an Alto, it only uses about half the width of the screen, hence the line halfway across the screen.)

(And no, I didn't run it for more than a few seconds like this, without vertical deflection that line's extra bright and can damage the phosphor...)
