Washy brought home a mouse again except this time it was alive and well and Washy wanted to play.. Luckily I could intercept in time and release the little fellah back outside and Washy seems ‘okay’ with it :blobcatgiggle:

Ofc he got a reward for it :catblush: I mean, he’s still a cat who needs to hunt and in general he’s not super good at it so when he catches something I let him know he did well

@stux my Dubby caught two mice and left them for me in the living room, two different nights. I praised him to let him know that he'd been a good hunter. The mice were already gone, and so I put them outside where other critters could make use of them - this is a highly wooded property with lots of wildlife.Dubby felt quite smug and proud of himself for doing what comes naturally to moat cats.

@stux my cat Albert once brought a full size rat, luckily he had killed it. He was mighty proud!

@stux The same with our cat Boefie, except it was a (big) grey pigeon. I could grab the bird from her and brought it outside. Luckily, after a few minutes, the pigeon came to rest and flew away, slightly wounded. I also gave some treats; we can’t betray the nature of animals.Boefie is a small cat, and I was wondering how she could catch such a big bird. Earlier on, she killed a jackdaw, which is more of her size.Honestly, I hope she won’t do this too often; it stresses me out quite a bit.
