@TimBondy Cool! Wish I’d had this last week. I’m always bringing home a few rocks for my garden, including this piece of Steens Mountain basalt with plagioclase crystals I grabbed this week.

@IdahoLark Cool rock you found there!I find anywhere along the Owyhee Front is an outstanding place to find cool rocks. I was into that hobby for a long time and then I noticed the ton of cool rock I was storing. I got rid of the VAST majority of them. Now I limit rocks to a total of 6 and they must fit in my front pocket of my shorts. And then I discard the 5 less desirable rock when I get home.

@TimBondy Yeah, at some point I need to quit bringing home rocks. But they sure look good in my grass-to-xeriscape conversion projects, and I still have one more area to convert. I’d love a piece of obsidian and petrified wood, too.

@IdahoLark I can tell you where to find a lot of obsidian in billiard ball and smaller sized chucks are just sitting on the ground waiting for you. It would take about 10 minutes to dig up the map.

@IdahoLark It's about 6 miles in on a dirt/dusty road called Spivey Road south or Oreana, Idaho. I believe I dropped a pin on this map of the approximate location. https://goo.gl/maps/PNSg5hZpzwL2fDjdA

@TimBondy Cool, thanks! I've been wanting to go out to Jump Creek so I could add this, though I might wait until March...
