One answer is that, this is the day when הקב”ה again spoke directly to Moshe Rabeinu, something absent since the meraglim. What is the reason for our transition here? What comes from this dying off and why men of war in particular?May Tisha b'Av be joyous again. Speedily in our days.

       @bborn @TorahStudy @torah I don't understand your question. When the people decided not to conquer the Promised Land, the people who would have participated in that conquest but now chose not to were punished with dying at the age of 60, so that none of them were around to enter the land when it was time. It would be a new generation more prepared for the task that actually conquered the land.
