       If my wife wants to do something "computer-y" - pretty much anything - she'll reach for her phone.If I want to do something "computer-y", I reach for my computer, for pretty much anything other than reading a short message or quick, casual browsing.Yes, everyone is different, but I much prefer a larger screen and a physical keyboard for anything but the most trivial of tasks.Are you a computer-first person, or a phone-first person?

       @neil Depends on how far away the computer is and the level of discomfort (like getting up from the sofa) involved in getting there.

       This isn't just an excuse for me to whinge about the lack of a phone like a BlackBerry, but running Linux / not abandoned but its manufacturer.

       @neil Computer first unless it's unavailable.There are so many things that just don't cut it on a phone/tablet, from typing to multitasking - almost any interaction other than idle consumption... but even then, screen=small, audio=pants.This toot is about as long as I can stand with an on-screen keyboard, and I'm already frustrated.Even laptops are no-go for me, unless there is a good reason (like visiting a customer on site).

       @neil I'm generally impressed by the patience of people who chose phone-first access... and there are plenty where it's enforced (budget, space, etc...)

       @attie @neil I was amazed at an elderly relative struggling with an iPhone that she was given; she has truly awful eyesight and it's exactly the wrong device for her, but she manages - with a magnifying glass.
