Idk what world you guys are living in, but I and many women struggle to even get help because we look happy on the outside and get lectured about being grateful, lectured about nutrition, etc in such a condescending way that you stop even admitting your thoughts and feelings because empathy is lacking. Social media has brought me connection during isolation, but also pushed me further into feeling like the shittiest mom because I'm not bird feeding my kids and writing a "how to blog" about it, or own 100 acres to play little house on the prairie on..One big competition, digital virtue signaling mess. @IceCubeSoup when I talk to mothers my age and am vulnerable with them, every single time they express feeling the same way. Especially comparing themselves to influencer mom's, etc. We used to compare ourselves to people in our community, which is kinda healthy, we can all inspire each other to be better parents. But this glorifying motherhood online with pictures of hot women holding babies on a homestead is so unreal and uninspiring to peasants like me surviving.

I hear people talk about keeping kids off of social media and away from phones as long as possible, but what about adults? Why not set up an example for kids?I know some parents where one of the two might ditch all big social media, but I can understand it can be difficult if all school stuff and things with other parents come through it. Still, if both parents are off social media, and keep their phones minimal (or go the extra step and to Google/Apple free phones), wouldn't it build more community as you'd then depend on direct text messages from other parents to stay in the loop about events? Other parents would also have to interact with people who have different perspectives from not being on the same parts of the Interwebs.I hate this notion that big tech social media is bad for kids and okay for adults. Its' really bad for both.

@djsumdog @IceCubeSoup I'd love to discuss this one day on a podcast or something because I can't put it all in text..We have less connection in our communities because of things like "masking, vaccine, political beliefs" I had women stop talking to me or wanting to get together because my kids aren't vaccinated. And I don't mask them.Everything got pushed online, doctor appointments, etc People are more reserved in person now. Especially moms.. the world has changed.

😢I had one very good friend friend call me "unfathomably stupid" for hanging out with one of my best friend's families if Florida a little over a year ago while being unjabbed (friend's family wasn't either). She lives in New Zealand and believed fully in all their absolutely insane measures. I haven't talked to her since and will not ever again unless she apologizes.I also have an ex-girlfriend who got in a text message fight with her old roommate because her old roommate teaches primary school and refused to get the jab. I drove to Kentucky to teach some wedding dance choreography with said teacher back in April and I told her straight up I would never talk to my ex-girlfriend again unless she apologized to her first.People who acted that way over taking the least tested experimental medication in modern regulatory history are not people I could ever fully trust again. If people want to take the jab, fine, that's their decision. But If they think other people are stupid for questioning it or want to mandate it: those are people who defer to authority, cannot think for themselves and would be the first to revel in the slaughter of their self-righteousness.

@Maiko_1820 I feel this, I think I'm only not chronically depressed because I ditched Facebook before my kid was born and got off Instagram a couple of years ago. I'm not a homesteader/homeschooling mom, I live in a small country town and my kid isn't involved in the sports because of the politics of youth sports in small towns, he suffers because of social media addicted parents. Parenting is hard and if your kids are healthy and thriving, you're doing your job as a parent. Just my two cents.

Don't put on pink Pollyanna glasses because the world isn't shiny, pink and happy, but just sometimes you just need to wipe the shit off and put your glasses back on. @yarnlady I've had depression since i had seizures in middle/HS and was isolated from everyone. My family doesn't believe in depression, believes it's a scam. I have always expressed myself with art, poetry, dance etc. Studied philosophy, admired stoicism, hid behind quotes and mantras. I have a psychiatrist and a therapist, but you truly get what you pay for. I'll prob always compare myself because I'll always want to be better.
