Upload limit 15 MB -> ~25MB. Remember that Pleroma’s media transcoding is pretty limited, though, so you might still want to keep file size low for the benefit of people on slower connections. Boram crunched my 20MB 1080p stream clip to 2MB of 720p. (I use this a lot for the Kusoge Advent Calendar articles, though for the most recent one I went to mp4 instead of webm IIRC)

@sleepmode Handbrake’s not bad either! Boram is a nice way to do one-stop clip/crop/scale/reencode in the same flow, though, which has its perks. These days when I’m doing batch processing, I’ll usually do subclips with avidemux and write an ffmpeg script to encode them all in one shot, but Boram or Handbrake are pretty cozy for one-shots.

@aj @sleepmode I wish there was a tool that just had a field for "what target filesize are you aiming for" and just aimed at it with decent defaults, maybe even gave me a 2 sec preview

@ash @sleepmode Boram has a “target file size” mode and will let you do scratch testing encodes, but I have no clue how they interact, probably not at all
