@thelinuxcast I'd probably call this The Register moment, but this time I think the headline is like that on purpose ๐

@thelinuxcast wwell Chromebooks are just a browser over an operative system, if Google wants they'll change to fuchsia tomorrowLike I suspect they'll do for Android sooner or later, so we have to work on pure Linux phones too -i'd help with my Lumia 435 if I'd know how

@lcruggeri Wow, I see a live person still daily driving Lumia in 2023!My 950XL is running desktop Windows 11 now, thanks to WoA project, I can even make phone calls, but I barely use it, I mostly take it out of the box to update it and put it back in.It's quite usable when connected to a TV, USB kb and mouse, but I just don't have any use for another Windows machine and it doesn't have that level of hardware support to be usable with Linux.

@m0xee sadly my Lumia stands next to me waiting for a battery charge, as Microsoft killed all the useful services on it - it was a really good OS where you could do kinda anything without install a single application.I miss the forecast related wallpaper, it was really good

@lcruggeri I've been daily driving mine till early last year, but even ProtonMail and Hydrogen stopped working in Edge and Matrix and e-mail are basically what I use for communication. It was time from something else and I got myself an Android phone but the one that could also run Ubuntu Touch, SailfishOS and even Droidian โ it was good even just to explore my options.I really miss Windows Mobile though โย it was really well designed, unlike those other "market leaders" we have today ๐

@m0xee really, a reason it lost was also the decision of Google to not make a Youtube client nor make Microsoft do it.

@lcruggeri Instagram too โย I don't care about either, but it was important for the overall popularity of the platform. I even remember MS doing flashmobs to make Facebook consider it โย and it had happened, but it was too late. When MS decided to abandon platform I was surprised as it was still viable, not a market leader, but definitely not beyond salvation, the idea of Universal apps wasn't bad at all, but now it looks like they've abandoned even that.

@m0xee and that idea is behind many apps from Gnome and GTK, that works in telephone mode on Postmarket OS phones
