@wjmaggos Your claimed ignorance of what your side wants to do is not exactly my problem, especially in the blowback it’s generating.A stark and total refusal to answer or otherwise engage my history question shows exactly what “liberals” mean about “conversations,” they’re at best lectures. Here I’m supposed to believe without support that things used to be better.Too bad for you I for example have early Silent Generation parents who remember enough about FDR pre-WWII, and older Boomer friends who’s parents and grandparents remembered it as adults.

@ThatWouldBeTelling I think you misread liberal as left, but I still don't understand what you're referring to. There is no consistency on the right or left, nor do the two major parties represent them. I think we used to have these conversations about issues and policy with less animosity, but maybe I am wrong. my dad was born in 1929 and was a Republican. but my grandfather came to America from Greece pre 1900 and liked FDR. actually too bad for me, I never met him.

For example:When FDR was per his USDA starving a quarter of the population, which was confirmed by the WWII draft and was the major input into the school lunch bill passed in 1946, I think “animosity” is just the beginning for those on the other side.But then again you’re just a Paper American with a grandparent we can assume “liked FDR” because the latter’s policies favored him and allowed him to make a profit running a restaurant.You will, in time, learn you’d best go back.

@ThatWouldBeTelling go back to what? liberal as in liberal democracy. the sharing of ideas.the goal of the show is not to argue about which party to support or the correct understanding of history. it is to try to understand each other's perspectives on current issues and policy. of course our views of the past factor in that though, and are welcome to be discussed too. you're welcome anytime, but I'd hope you could be less antagonistic than you have been in this conversation.
