I find myself disliking both sides of the “how should we control teens’ exposure to sexually explicit material” debate.Left is all about cramming porn down their throats and making them attend live demonstrations of how to operate a dildo. Disgusting.Right has this overprotective thing going on, where they suppress their children’s sexual development so that they are essentially eunuchs well into adulthood. This isn’t the answer either.

@Cosmic The overprotective thing came from the early progressives who were horrified that teenage girls were getting married and having families instead of college/career. So they campaigned to stop it—successfully, but they assumed everyone would simply control their urges until later in life. That’s completely unrealistic, like everything else progressives believe, so rampant promiscuity gradually became commonplace—and all the cultural destruction that comes with it. Now look where we are.

And then the welfare state for all the single mothers. Everything went to complete shit from there. The progressive mindset is utterly impervious to wisdom and refuses to exercise any humility and admit it’s wrong.

@Cosmic i am of the mindset that my tax dollars aren’t for sexuality. Schools shouldn’t do anything but teach kids the 3Rs and Leap/FFA/shop. Even athletic programs should remain in a distinct lane.

@Cosmic I would disagree with the premise that the Right "suppresses their children's sexual development...". First of all, their sexual development is not something you can suppress unless you're actually meaning their exposure to sexuality. I wholeheartedly agree that children do not need to be exposed to sexuality at all. Specifically in their pre-pubescence. That being said, it's the responsibility of the parents to educate their children on sex, not the state.

@Cosmic The answer is biology. Teach them BIOLOGY and about their HORMONES and how the human function of SEX is to make more humans -> 1+1=2 The idea that children have a “sexual development” is made up. Their body MATURES, by activations of HORMONES -> and how hormones play into the whole body and even the Neurological changes that come from your body entering puberty. Like come the fuck on, it’s not some unsolvable problem.

@Hempressemilym @Cosmic Any child who grows up in proximity to agriculture understands the mechanics and mathematics of sex before it's part of any curriculum. The second order effects, relationships and so forth can come later in an academic (not instructional) setting. Contraception can come last, at a reasonable level and 'the only 💯 method is abstinence' should be a pass fail requirement. Anything further should be delivered by a medical professional who has examined the patient.

@Cosmic Biology and related psychology is well documented and understood. Nowhere, never, had any human below age of 16 biologically developed ability of proper judgment. Without this ability there is no consent possible. It is well studied and documented that exposing children below this limit to sexual content and situations dramatically increases their chances of developing various sociopathies and psychopaties. Younger&more-the worse. Facts. Solution is in addressing this within family.
