A summary of the WHO's decision to classify aspartame as "possibly carcinogenic." Studies have suggested a possible link, but because of the way aspartame is metabolized, it's impossible to eliminate confounding factors. The classification is intended as a call for more research. Within recommended limits (9-14 beverages/day) there is little evidence that aspartame is harmful.https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-02306-0
