I literally post screenshots of every single report people send to my instance. There are all cry baby coddled morons. The instance your on silences me, and I was fully banned at one point but Gargon reversed it. (Honestly, all the censorship makes me glad I never contributed more to the Mastodon source).It’s not me man. I’ve been screamed at since 2018 no matter how kind I’ve tried to be when discussing disagreements of ideas. Most of the peanut gallery has banned me and it’s their loss and not mine.Your instance is both heavily censored and heavily censors. I’d suggest getting on a more neutral independent instance. Many instances are blocked by dozens of instances they have literally never interacted with just because someone on another instance had some minor grievance with a user, and rather than merely blocking them and moving on, decided to try adding their instance to a blocklist.

Getting blocked doesn’t bother me. I’m pretty milquetoast in my opinion and am open to different ideas. The 150 or so instances that have blocked me so far fall into 2 categories:1. Instances that are so narrow minded that they can’t stand anyone who might disagree with them in any way.2. Instances that blindly block from some of the big block lists. These folks have likely never seen anything from my instance. Either way while it’s unfortunate that they decided to block me, it’s not truly a problem for me and it certainly doesn’t hurt. It’s a big internet out there. You can’t please everyone.

Yeah the Great Wall of Mastodon is a thing. Blocks should be left up to users rather than instances. Instance blocks should be a truly last resort, IMHO. I’m taking illegal content like child porn, etc. But that’s just my opinion. That’s not the reality of the Fediverse. It is what it is. Overall, I like it here. There’s often a lot of “collateral damage” when instances defederate. Often, it’s about different moderation viewpoints, personal spats between admins, talking to the “wrong” instances, and sometimes plain ego tripping by admins. If an instance of 10k users defederates one with 20k users, suddenly it’s 30 thousand people that can’t talk to each other because two people don’t see eye to eye.Your instance is not very block-happy and is very low profile in general, so that’s why you haven’t had this issue before. Thankfully I never had a Twitter account so I lose exactly zero interactions by being here. The handful of accounts I like to read from there get sent to my instance via a bot I maintain. I had a gap until nitter started working again but since it’s read only for me anyway it wasn’t too bad. And it’s literally less than 20 accounts. I actually prefer not knowing the people with whom I interact on here in real life. Most of my IRL folks are quite normy and would likely just get upset when I occasionally toss out an unpopular opinion about something. That was my experience on FB back when I was active over there. Here I tend to get better engagement and I don’t have any IRL drama. And, frankly the quality of the conversations are better.
