       @GottaLaff That defense hasn't been used for a long time, and was never used by Trump himself.Weissmann is a showhorse. He is an entertainer. He pops off to entertain.I need to mute some words :) Popehat just took him apart on Bluesky for a stupid comment of his.For anyone else who sees this, I'll add: He's probably right 9 out of 10 times because he knows enough about criminal law.But some of his errors have been quite destructive.

       @GottaLaff One issue I plan to write about is the very problem of news as entertainment. Timothy Snyder says when news becomes entertainment, what matters is who puts on the best show. Truth stops mattering. It's all about the us v. them fight.It's a continuation of what I wrote this weekend. I think it's a serious problem with lots of roots and no easy solution.

       @Teri_Kanefield I not only agree, but have complained and posted alarm bells about “infotainment” for years.My comment about Weissmann was strictly about enjoying his personality. If he’s not offering up accurate info, that is not entertaining to me. I can separate the 2 in my head, but a lot of people can’t or don’t.

       @GottaLaff You've said the same about Mystal. I think that Mystal brings a lot to the conversation. But he is also (in my view) wildly destructive.The problem is that most people don't distinguish. They take whatever he says as true.Here's a fact: Women lawyers my age often feel we just can't pop off like that. We were always judged by different standards and are terrified of being wrong.Some of these guys literally don't care.
