       Can anyone explain to me why we all agree that facebook is a data collection evil, but whenever we talk about Cloudflare there is no issue at all?

       @stanford it’s strange and it’s not like cloudflare has never done questionable things. Why is there a collective shrug when the half of the internet that may not be actively profiling you is all being MITM by cloudflare?

       @brendan @stanford why single out Cloudflare though. Everything spies on us somehow somewhere. If it isn’t cloudflare then it is our browser or it is the recipient’s gmail or their operating system. Disclosure: I use Cloudflare for my mastodon instance, my website and dns.

       @dustinrue @brendan You fulfil the image of the collective shoulder shrug Brendan talked about pretty well.It's not right just because others are doing it too.Not to mention that there are actually some options to choose from, regarding less invasive browsers, OSes or email providers.

       @dustinrue @brendan That is precisely what my original post was about.Why are most of us have the same opinion about Google or Facebook, but when there are discussions about Cloudflare everyone is fine with it?

       @stanford @brendan in that context I would say it is because it is less well known about. A lot of people can point to an instance where they said $product and then started seeing ads for $product. Nobody attributes that to cloudflare
