I am thankful I do not have to deal with young kids & access to technology. Also, when a news organization reaches out to a company such as, Meta, Snap, or [insert giant corp or politician's name here] and they, "declined a request for an interview," the news organization should just assume they are guilty of whatever issue the article is investigating & say so. @bonifartius @elaterite I do not understand this attitude. I would not be in Tech today, or the person I am if I did not enjoy the rather unfiltered access to internet we kids enjoyed in the late 2000s. Parents are so afraid of online creeps that they cut their kids of from all the chances to learn to be responsible individuals on their own, and completely dismiss offline creeps as the much greater danger.

@bonifartius @elaterite I have seen those videos and while they certainly are weird, and seem otherworldly, I do not see grave harm in them. Its internet people begging for money in unorthodox ways.In fact the encapsulation of our youth is what brought platforms like tictac to life.

@Alexmitter @elaterite you are a grownup, not a 9 year old.i'd say the person in the video has a good chance of ending disabled with mental health issues: highly repetitive actions with dopamine reward from getting attention and payment. i know people going nuts from less, like playing fifa and smoking bong.i never advocated for real life encapsulation, in fact i strongly recommend real social interaction.

@Alexmitter @elaterite i'm not even sure i should answer to such a low effort try of an insult, but whatever:knowing that all of big tech has dedicated teams to make things extra addictive, _especially for kids_, i'd rather be on the fear mongering side here.it's a blessing if you don't fucking care anymore for what the modus operandi of society is. will my kids be the weird ones without smartphones? for sure, but they'd be anyway.will they end up disabled from mental health issues with tics from watching too many social media videos of already brain damaged teen girls? guess not!
