Since we're getting close to general strikes, can I physically cross a picket line to inform someone I will not be working due to a picket line? Like lets say I'm renigging on commitments because it would require crossing a picket line to do it. Can I state "hey I want to go in and say I won't buy or work or whatever because I don't have their number and come right out" I don't actually know how picket lines work.

@zippy1981 picket lines aren't literal most of the time. Walking inside of a brick and mortar facility to tell people to fuck off is not really crossing the picket line, unless by some chance you are walking past an actual picket line and symbolically gesturing that you are still engaging with this business, then that's still scabbing.Basically the rule of thumb is: are you (or do you appear to be) giving tangible material benefit by doing business with, selling your labor to, or purchasing from an organization who's workers are striking or engaged in a stoppage? If yes, that's scabbing. If not, you're good.

@zippy1981 yeah, and sometimes a big one.For example, some people unfortunately require Amazon because it's the only tangible way to get needed items delivered to them. So if you're one of those people and you need to keep your Prime membership and shop on there while there's a stoppage or strike, then that's fine but stfu about it and don't take it personally. Like don't feel the need to be like "oMg I nEeD aMaZon yAlL aRe JuSt abLeIsT." Just keep shopping there quietly and let people who have the money and ability to shop elsewhere do so and increase the effectiveness of the strike. It's just about standing in solidarity with the workers the best you can, without trying to scan loopholes and technicalities.
