       @apropos @Xenophon Honestly telling kids to "Be Yourself" and "You Can Be Whatever You Want" is a really bad idea because there are parts of yourself that are bad and need to be repressed for you to be your best self, and there are some things you really shouldn't try to become. Those messages being ubiquitous in kids' entertainment with no pushback and no qualifications is what got us to where we are. "Be Yourself" is not a civilization-building motto, it's the motto of the indolent savage.

       @ArdainianRight @Xenophon in my preteens I had occasional bouts of intrusive thoughts about (literal) shit. It was just some kind of mental vandalism, part of my brain messing with me by showing me images I'd find disgusting.I suppressed those thoughts until I stopped having them. But today it'd be possible to1. hear that suppressing stuff is BAD and you shouldn't do that2. very easily find some kind of scatsexual community3. be groomed by people would say "oh yeah you're definitely a level 1 poop acolyte in the making. We'll help you level up!"4. be immersed in an illusion that this is a real thing that people really do, despite 100% of the community only spending a few hours a week on a fetish that they're only pretending is an entire way of lifei.e., literally the same thing as transgenderism
