       Why are Flat bed sheets so much more expensive than fitted sheets?  Aren't fitted sheets much more complicated to make?

       @ali1234 Haha, well of course - looks rather manual still doesn't it.   I was assuming these things you'd feed a bolt of cloth in, specify the size and come back later to a pile of sheets.

       @penguin42 Yeah I'm not sure why they're feeding in a duvet either.I think in the end it is just economy of scale and fitted sheets being way more popular now.

       @ali1234 Could this actually be the problem? They've bought a fitted-sheet manufacturing machine so they have to utilise that; they haven't also bought a separate flat sheet machine (or there aren't as many?)

       @penguin42 I would expect that the part that puts the elastic in would be an optional module but it might be expensive to reconfigure it all.I think people just don't want flat sheets.
