I still don't understand why people like #vimI mean I dig the idea of a terminal based editor. But vim's key bindings are kind of crap, and the modal text editing is nonsense

@kaievans If you don't like modal editing then use Emacs, it's also a terminal based editor. But modal editing is great because it forces you think of your text in two ways: the first one which is about using the language of vim to edit the text, the second one (which is the usual one for all the other text editors) which is for writing text. But if this mindset does not suit you then it's OK, just use Emacs or whatever you prefer.

@nicoe @kaievans How long have you used it to say it's crap ? Give some arguments ... because it's early in the week to start a troll 😅

@hyde @kaievans From my POV, it takes time to get in the mindset to appreciate modal editing. It didn't click for me right from the start (I've been an emacs user for 6 years before switching to vim … but I've never looked back 😜 ).

@hyde @nicoe approximately 5 minutes, just enough time to start wondering why the fuck the arrow keys are shifted sideways from a neutral hand position ;)
