@boilingsteam @mastodom The reliability of not having wifi decide not to power on after reboot or to simply disappear. The reliability of not having an update suddenly corrupt a repository. The reliability of not having a black screen after suspend. Yes, the team had problems and was on the point of failure, but is now back with a vigor.

@boilingsteam @mastodom I have found Solus the most reliable rolling release. openSUSE Tumbleweed is the next most reliable, but the updates are so darn slow to apply and often require many autorestarts of the package downloads.

Running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with an Arch Linux container using Distrobox doesn't seem like that bad of an idea. You'll have access to the latest bleeding-edge software while retaining the stability and utility of OpenSUSE and YaST.

@Maholmire I hadnāt thought of that. I currently use Flatpak for the user facing applications (e.g., Thunderbird) so that I rely on the application maintainers to keep things current rather than the distribution maintainers (following a suggestion from #thelinuxEXP). I still have to spend the time going through the updates of openSUSE base packages. Would the Distrobox approach have any advantages over Flatpak?

Not much beyond access to bleeding-edge software of Arch Linux without as much of the difficulty or maintenance which typically comes along with that. Access to the AUR and the ability to have the packages within the container synergize with each other in the case of using wine and winetricks with Lutris for example.Though if you would like to be able to conveniently install binary packages from different repository sources without the hassle of setting up a container then you may want to look into APX and Blend. Otherwise, for convenient container management, thereās always Distrobox. Something Iāve done is export the .desktop file for Octopi į“¬įµį“æ to ~/.local/share/applications and launch that whenever I want an easy way for someone less experienced to be able to install and use something from the Arch Linux repositories.
