It seems bizarre that Putin and Prigozhin apparently had a meeting in the Kremlin five days after the mutiny when Prigozhin was supposed to be in exile in Belarus. Since the mutiny, #Putin was all over the place, clearly unable to find his footing. But this story just makes him look weak.

@anderspuck I've seen this reporting all day, but Il missing some sort of analysis of what all this means. What's the big picture here? It's such a weird storyline to follow.

@ToreJuloe It's really hard to make sense of. But we should probably also be careful about reading too much into this news that is two weeks old. We have since then still seen an active information campaign by the Kremlin aimed at a character assassination of Prigozhin.

@anderspuck I seriously doubt they met after the mutiny.Prigozhin may have met someone else.

@elCelio Putin’s press secretary has confirmed the meeting, though.

@anderspuck my new kremlinology is that nobody knows what’s going on, especially not inside Russia. Nobody knows what power they have, or what support they’ve got, so they’re stumbling around in the dark.

@anderspuck @ToreJuloe It seems like Putin is in a weak position. The immediate aim to stop Wagner moving into Moscow was achieved. Now to slit Prigozhin’s throat, but they clearly are afraid of damage to themselves if they did that at the moment. Character assassination of Prigozhin would weaken him, seemingly intended to get them closer to dispensing of him, but it appears a double edged sword, making Putin look stupid for ever doing a deal.

@john It is definitely hard to make sense of some of these things happening now.
