       @nora me (i created the git repo) and my grounp of friends (working on the actual thing) are currently exploring a sort of irc-style chat system in terms of simplicity, but with modern qol features like user avatars, proper accounts and message logs, typing indicators, formatting, etc…

       @navi @yukijoou @nora I have looked into it and every time I pick it up I end up realizing "IRC does this but better even if it misses features". I think there's no point to doing it unless you are making it federated. then yeah it's a good idea. federation is too tough for me though
