For any Christian saying they aren’t attempting to force religion on anyone. It is now right out in the open. https://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/controversial-preacher-says-every-church-should-take-over-their-town/

@EarlDGray the way you word it suggests that all Christians agree with this piece of shit. I suspect many Christians don't want to force their religion on anyone. I know many do. But given there's a billion of them I think there's few nets big enough to capture what all of them want or believe.

@philip_cardella All Germans didn’t agree with Hitler. Yet, Roe V Wade was just overturned, trans care banned, as are books dealing with anything they disagree with. A few stand up to this Christo-fascist takeover, but in my experience it isn’t different than the NRA. Lots of defense of the body, while anyone caught is a “lone wolf”. “All that evil needs to prevail is for good men to do nothing” And I see teligion doing a LOT of nothing about these types.

@philip_cardella @EarlDGray more to this: formulated like an overall "truth", despite actually deals with some local US-related stuff.

@EarlDGray Roe was brought as a result of a church that was helping women get abortions and still is.My pastor is using the religious grounds to sue FL to lift the abortionon their own perverted thinking--she has standing because she's a Christian (the lawsuit includes Rabbis).German pastor Bonhoeffer was executed for trying to assassinate Hitler with a bunch of fellow Christians.Still, you make good points. Only 37% of Germans ever supported Hitler and the damage he did was incalculable.

@philip_cardella Yes 50 years ago. And Democrats were white supremacists 100 years ago. Not all Germans were brownshirts either. But far more than enough were silent, allowing them to take over. Anyone that can’t see the Christian silence and denial regarding Trump, SCOTUS, Proud Boys, Moms for Liberty, White Supremacy, attack on “Woke” etc. etc. is firmly entrenched in the denial. I will bet my house a HUGE majority of ALL those groups are self identified “Christians”.

@EarlDGray Well, I don't think we're talking about quite the same thing. I completely agree that the majority of right wing nut bags in this country identify as Christian, especially white evangelicals. Personally, I find that group to be abhorrent, vile and partly my own personal fault as I didn't do enough to stop them sooner in my life. I mean, the evil they do--to my own kids mind you--enrages me. And the Germans are a great example about the danger of disunity against fascism.

@EarlDGray my pastor told me today she's receiving threats and personal attacks for her participation in the lawsuit and interview in NYT. My church also leads a group of political activists that includes Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist congregations. I'm not saying you should like us. I am saying my church would rather dissolve than see any faith pushed on any one.

@philip_cardella And again, not all Germans voted for Hitler or were brownshirts. But again, all that is anecdotal as there are never, ever absolutes. Now as then, a large minority support what is happening, and the majority just stay silent. The message is clear.

@EarlDGray @philip_cardella organized by whom?First of all, it has nothing to do with you claim that any Christian forces religion on others. The author cite religious attitude of Georgia in line with the stuff, pretending that it explains anything. But there are a few flaws. First, Georgia is an ex-soviet country, where religion was prosecuted for decades -- these countries are not really religious. The soviet and russian homophobia comes from a different sources which barely have anything to do with the church. I can unroll more if you are really interested. Moreover, why traditionally Catholic or Protestant west European countries do not demonstrate similar level of homophobia the claims of tha author are true?

@nanoelquant @philip_cardella “organized by who?” OMFG…https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moms_for_Liberty Pick a group. Proud Boys. III percenters. Patriot Prayer. I could go on listing them all day…. All have nearly 100% Christian participants.

@nanoelquant @philip_cardella You hadn’t heard of them. And? Just more anecdotes… Meanwhile, school boards across America are being attacked (by organized Christians). https://www.pfaw.org/school-boards-become-the-religious-rights-new-pulpit-education-alliances-of-conservative-christian-parents-political-groups-take-control-of-panels-spark-battles/

@EarlDGray @philip_cardella "And what do ALL these fascist type groups (and many more) have in common? Christians…."which again does not justify reverse claim that any Christian would participate in similar actions.

@nanoelquant @philip_cardella And that would be true of that were the claim. BUT IT WASN’T. I said “Christians” (as in more than one) and have further explained that there is no such thing as 100% of anything. Name a white supremacy group, anti-LGTBQ group, fascist group, misogynist group, etc. etc. And I will bet my house they are predominantly Christian. The majority of Germans weren’t brownshirts. But a majority either supported them directly, tacitly, or stayed silent. Just as Christians are doing with fascists right now. Hey I get it, you don’t want to own them. But they claim you, and a majority of Christians support them or stay silent. And that says volumes
