Ok cat ladies of Spinster.. I need advice. I'm trying to trim Snoopy's claws. He fusses and he actually physically fights me. He hissed at me (something i havent heard in quite awhile). I wrapped him up in a purrito (in a good, thick towel) but it doesn't seem to work. He managed to somehow wiggle out of it twice. Any tips would be appreciated. I got Vadims claws earlier.... with some resistance as well. He hissed and bit me a couple times. I only trimmed the front claws.

@chilady2022 What position were you holding him in? I’ve had best success with plopping the cat on my lap with its back down, in a kind of sitting position (while I’m sitting as well). That way if you need extra control, you can put the cat between your knees. Should work with the cat wrapped in a towel as well. It’ll be a bit harder for the cat to wriggle or fight in that posture. I’ve seen a groomer use something she calls “happy hoodie”, which is a snug band that goes over the cat’s head so that the ears are covered. The groomer said it calms a cat down and makes it think it’s immobilised. I’ve never tried one myself though, and not sure how one could DIY it. My go to was in the past to have strict rules for the cat, that allowed no hissing, biting or swiping at people. But of course that’s not something that can be implemented at a moment’s notice.

@chilady2022 Trimming my kid's cat's claws is a two person job. I never really had problems with my past cats. They didn't necessarily like it, but would tolerate it. I'd just have to cradle them snuggly and have at it. I have not, obviously, tried it with Farah, but she seems to be doing a good job with the scratching posts. My former cats were unfortunately more interested in furniture.

@chilady2022 I doi it one toe at a time when they are asleep, if you press gently on the top of the toe there's a sweet spot, and the claw extends.
