I wonder whether there ever were revolutions that had a net positive outcome.I can only think of examples that had a negative outcome for the world: Russian communist revolution, Arab spring, 1848 everywhere, American revolution :BPWink:

@kaia it is true though that most revolutions are pre-clowned by the rich. most of them are just different factions of opportunistic sociopaths seeing an opportunity to ride a peasant revolt to gain power.i've heard stories about the bolshevik revolution being a weird western conspiracy to trial out marxism and the russian crown wasn't really that awful. but i don't spend a whole lot of time on it.murica is probably one of the few were the peasant revolt was ... really just the peasants said :blobcattableflip: britain what you can do is fucked:neofox_cool: and got away with it

Western Germany ate all Eastern debt, destroyed or sold out what was left of the industrial base there (after the manager of the Treuhandanstalt had been assassinated), left the infrastructure, scrapped the soviet weaponry inherited from the National People's Army and overall alienated east and west from each other. And there is also the rumor of SED remnants taking over the reunited country from the inside.

@maxmustermann @kaia The industrial base was scrap. That's a large part of why the country collapsed. And so were Russian weapons. Can't really blame anyone for not foreseeing that we might have given them to the Ukrainians -- 33 years later. As for the SED taking over...LOL

The economy was junk, because Socialism isn't sustainable and the entire infrastructure was already rotting away. A huge chunk was sold to American companies after Rohwedder had been killed. Soviet weapons were good. If the claims of the Sovoks are too believed damn good. The ones you saw before the Invasion of Ukraine were shoddy clones the Soviets designed for trading. The real reason why they had to go was language. You see, NATO speaks English whereas Warsaw Pact spoke Russian. Translating all that Vodka runes for incoperating slightly outdated Tanks, Jets and state of the art missiles and cool late Stahlhelme would have been boneheaded economically .So into the junk heap it goes.The SED remnants taking over is a still a rumor cobbled together with various hints and the behavior multiple post reunification figures. The actual SED might not make it into Parliament after the next election. This doesn't mean that German Sovoks doing treason for control doesn't exists. Pic related, by the way.
