@mario there's a bit to it. The rabid anti-vegan bullies are partially right in their opposition but like with most things... it's just conservatives with an inferiority complex that mean well but are horribly misguided in how they go about things.I'm not vegan and I think veganism is a terrible idea with a somewhat sinister agenda behind it. But individuals are individuals and I can always accomodate vegans and make vegan-friendly food for them.

@mario the bit about the inferiority complex comes from decades of carnists being morally browbeaten by animal rights activists and now environmentalists. The way you and your loved ones have lived for generations is wrong and EVIL so now you have to live in this way that's weird and impoverished to you to be a good person.I don't bully vegans because I don't care about being a good person.Funny how that works.

Funnily enough in my experience it's the other way around.I specifically try not to get into ethics discussions regarding veganism, however i have had an immense amount of people trying to gaslight me into thinking that me being vegan is bad in one way or another.Be it "You not buying meat won't stop the industrial exploitation of animals" or "That's unhealthy" or "But you use this and this and there might be some traces of milk involved in the production" or "Buying vegan stuff at Burger King still gives them profits".I don't want to and i can't force people to be vegan but ffs people sure have issues with me being vegan.

if there is no difference in the cognitive abilities (i.e. suffering) between animals and humans (and i am very certain that's the case) then it's just as bad to put animals in death camps as it is with humans.if it's not right to rape humans and separate them from their children in order to farm their milk, then it's also not okay to do the same to animalsthat's part of my reasoning, if people don't share that sentiment then there's not much i can do about it, but no one can tell me that this reasoning is fallacious. farm animals are def suffering

@mario exactly. The bullies lead in with the moral argument because they're reactive. When you reveal that you're a vegan... they don't see that as you're a guy who just eats plants based food. They see it as you are a missionary or evangelist that's been torturing their moral being. Maybe you're too young to know this though. But just look at carnists who flip out at you. Look at other aspects of their life and how they define themselves. You will definitely see a streak of insecurity and low-self esteem. I have nothing to be insecure about.Also: I am not gay

When the lockdown happened I exclusively ate vegetarian döner.Becoming vegan was just a matter of leaving out the cheese and getting hot sauce instead of garlic one to me :blobcatgiggle2: Back then I didn't even think about the ethics, it was more like a "Why not?"
