@joemcken @mmasnick the real problem, IMO, is that only #Canada has the balls to do something like this. If every other country in the world, or a great majority of them, did what Canada did, #Meta would have no choice but to negotiate. Period. That's my position and I'm sticking to it. You're entitled to your view, just as I'm entitled to mine.

@joemcken @mmasnick The Canadian government, I think, has finally realized they f***ed up. They are currently in panicked emergency meetings to try and get the platforms to not block news links altogether. Apparently, Facebook was hours away from pulling the news block lever before the government finally communicated with them.https://www.freezenet.ca/canadian-government-hold-last-ditch-talks-with-meta-and-google-to-salvage-bill-c-18/
