Another big objection is "that's against GDPR" and while that's certainly got an argument, good luck with that. Either you sue every instance which provides search already (and there are lots!) or you accept that federating your posts means they end up places you don't want them to be.

@wesley83 @seldo marginalised people don’t want to be found by abusers and trolls, is the reason. By making hashtags the search default, it means you aren’t discoverable unless you specifically opt in using a hashtag.Which I completely understand.

@snott @wesley83 speaking for myself, I didn't use any hashtags at all and an army of Nazis found me last week anyway. Obscurity is not going to help in the long run.
