       I see a lot of awful NIMBYism in my city social channels, but just a reminder that one of the most important things people who are unhoused in America can do is dress cleanly and as nicely as they can. It’s social engineering basics. If you look like a paying customer in our capitalist society, then you can go places you couldn’t dirty, like flush toilets and clean sinks in restaurants, hotels, and gyms. Especially in places where they’ve been extra cruel about not providing any public bathrooms.

       @hacks4pancakes I think your point is that public restrooms and clean places to wash up oneself and one's clothing are a basic need, and NIMBYism fights to keep those things away from everyone's sight.  This further marginalizes unhoused people.  I agree.

       @hacks4pancakes Edit: I was mistaken about the intent and tone of the original post, and I am fully aligned with them in grief and anger.I hope you’re joking about this. Because if you, a housed person, are using your social media access to advise unhoused persons to clean up, and not using your power to direct influence and resources to solve this problem, I am shockingly disappointed that I followed you.

       @Prainbow wooow… you totally misread my toot. The ongoing commentary is, “they don’t deserve any hand outs because they’re dressed too nicely.” And it’s persistent and one of the most vicious forms of  harassment and abuse that people seeking and publicly using aid programs face.

       @hacks4pancakes @Prainbow I think as a society we should just sort of, gently, calmly (and informally, not suggesting a registry) identify those who view helping people in purely zero sum/“what’s in it for me/“are they suffering sufficiently?” terms and refrain from giving them any sort of political power or treating their arguments seriously. Those, and people who try to prop up the in-group by dehumanizing an out group. What remains are basically people we can work with.

       @johnelamb @hacks4pancakes I believe the current assignment is to forcefully eject Christian Nationalism from all levels of government. Believe whatever you want at home. Once you take it to the statehouse we have a problem.
