You know your electoral system sucks when every election you have to choose between voting for the best candidate and losing your vote or voting for the least worst candidate to stop the most worst candidate from winning.

@the5thColumnist When I was a kid I was taught that the USA had a "two-party system" and Canada had a "multi-party system".It wasn't until I was older that I discovered that our systems are the same. The USA is multi-party, not just Democrats and Republicans, but nobody else has enough of a voter base to form government. Canada also has many parties, but only the Liberal and Conservative parties have enough clout to be elected. What's the difference? That small difference in Provincial parties?

@ned American third parties have no influence, Canadian ones do and actually form governments and one currently has a supply and confidence agreement with the governing federal party.

@the5thColumnist Remember Justin Trudeau's promise in 2015 to end FPTP.Sadly, Canada has such a complete and total lack of inspirational, rational leadership that voting against the Liberals feels like either a vote for the insane or a wasted vote. Fortunately, Ontario got a real good taste for what voter apathy can bring, so perhaps this will motivate the general public in future.
