I finally quit #reddit today. I'd hung on since my app of choice found a way to stay active, but the quality over there is already hugely declined and the whole experience is soured by spez's actions. I was browsing through some stuff earlier and I was thinking, "What am I doing?" as I read some of the dumbest opinions ever seen on the internet. Some of the focused communities are interesting I guess, and it's fine for questions, but on the whole I'm done with it.

I have RSS feeds for the few communities I still want to track, plus for actual news sources without the idiocy. In combination with following a bunch of Lemmy communities on here, I feel well-served. Much less entangled, much more informational, and much less nonsense — at least so far.

@Kaea If my standard was, "No dumb opinions," I think I'd have to log off and walk into the sea :)I think it's more about the communities we embed ourselves in and how we choose to interact with them. I was *very* absorbed in reddit and the idiocy was very apparent. I'm less absorbed with Lemmy given how I'm interacting with it and things seem better and healthier for it.

@rhys The problem is that no matter what community I join, most have opinions so radical and fucked up that it drives me crazy lol.
