@daveshuken tree weeks is perfect - anything less and you can only see one of the islands. In 3 weeks you can see the whole country. Our last 3 week New Zealand trip was in February of this year. If you follow the link in my post, you can find our itinerary and lots of photos and information about the destinations we visited.

@daveshuken oh, by the way, we are from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about 5h by car away from where you live.Maybe one piece of information: the flight is long. Our flights went through Los Angeles and we decided to spend a few days in LA before flying to New Zealand and afterwards, effectively making it a 4 week trip.

@backpackandsnorkel Thought so, it's really long. There's a new plane that's hydrogen powered that sounds exciting but ridiculous expensive that can fly from Paris to Sydney in 4 hours. I'm not flying that way...

@daveshuken Philadelphia is about 5h East of Pittsburgh and would justify at least 1 full day, if not more. Fallingwater is a short drive south of Pittsburgh and can be combined with lots of other things that you can do in Pittsburgh. If you need ideas of what to do in the Burgh, just let me know.
