       laughing at Element (matrix company) CEO, a for-profit org selling to the defence industry, acting wounded that foss network libera is giving up on them because of their shit treatment.libera has bent over backwards to support matrix while they leaked protected irc information, dropped messages, and spammed channels, and they're acting as if we've left them in the cold.

       @kline to be fair, must be tough losing access to the only set of channels on your chat protocol that aren't dedicated to the sharing of CSAM.

       @kline haves anyone on the Element side even acknowledged the technical problems that motivated this? All I've read is misrepresenting this as a betrayal instead of a legitimate operational issue.

       @matrix @kline Thank you for the reply. Portraying this as a community issue makes this unnecessarily complex imho: the true issue is that Element's bridge was not reliable.I was forced to move from it to a proper IRC bouncer a month ago because channels I needed to use for work stopped receiving my messages, without any indication of error.This doesn't have to be a conflict; If these problems are fixed libera.chat has no reason anymore not to accept the Element bridge. It's pragmatic.

       @matrix @epilys No, I don't think it's right to say "no one is covered in glory" as though both sides are equally involved.Matrixs contribution to this sorry state of affairs is materially different and more causative than liberas. While we had to make the decision and action it, it has been because of Matrix's (lack of) actions. The bridge has been persistently (deliberately?) under-resourced, and improvements have only been forthcoming when we put the pressure on, and our projects are tired.

       @matrix @epilys also this line was published only the day after my toot, and a day after one of Matrix's Guardians and New Vector CEO was caught out on HN posting without disclosing their position and talking about how we were opting to make users and chanops lives harder, when this is in fact the option they have been indicating is preferable.
