Moko-chan and her crew were Tamiya the model maker's mascots in the 1980s and very early in the 1990s.They had comics about model kits, RC cars, and whatnot, but one of the more fondly remembered books was Moko-chan's Guide series. These books had simple and easy-to-understand illustrations of how to get started with modeling your kits, with some advanced tips and tricks included.

@Zealist Their tools are still pretty good. Back in the day, Tamiya had a bit better quality control overall, but I do still use cement with styrene kits.
