@icedquinn not sure I trust STEMfags very much with knowing what would be the best thing for society considering that's partly how we got to where we are today, but useless politicians who know nothing about the things they're legislating and whose votes are already bought off by corporations is certainly a far worse situation

Before then, they were strictly expensive tools.

@wnd @nyx the computer illiteracy of politicians and judges bothers me greatly. especially all these landmark cases with reaching ramifications but nobody involved in the trials or the law even know what a computer is or does in the first place.and, of course, medicine gets its own privileged courts where vaccine doctors decide if they are going to hold themselves guilty or not.

@lucifargundam @nyx computering used to be a serious academic pursuit. the PR was twiddled around with it to create "nerd culture" cause the controllers didn't want tech people being able to narc on them
