Rate limits are NOT a bad thing. In fact, they're pretty much necessary for anything that has a user interacting with a service. What Musk did a couple days ago wasn't adding rate limits for the first time (Twitter has had rate limits since 2006), what he did was (have his software devs) increase the rate limits to extreme amounts without properly testing the consequences, and at the same time, mess up the Twitter client code to the point where it spammed the website far more than what was needed, leading to increased usage of said services which need to be rate limited. A rate limit, at its core, is simply a way to stop a user from doing a repeated action on a server too many times in a short period of time. For example, you wouldn't want to let a user post 100,000 times in 2 seconds. So please, take into account that every service you use has rate limits in one way or another, and in the extremely vast majority of cases, they're entirely a good thing and a necessary thing. What Elon allowed was simply a misuse of rate limits.
