There was a line in one of those Pew internet reports a decade or so agoHow many Americans knew what Twitter and Facebook were? And how many had used them?The answers were (from memory as I can’t find the damned report):Knew of itFacebook 98%Twitter 97%Had used itFacebook 60%Twitter 20%Limit seeing things on Twitter to only those with accounts… and you see why that’s a very bad idea.

@jon Yeah, twitter was always the biggest of the small fish, so to say. Its pros were that the users it did have were a higher proportion of important figures.But now, who's going to stay on twitter for exposure? Even if someone has a paid account, links to their tweets can't be shared with people without accounts any more, and their followers might not see posts because they're rate limited.
